Where Will You Volunteer?
NeighborGood Volunteer FAQs
What is NeighborGood? The purpose of this day is to serve our Orange County neighbors through intentional acts of service, with no strings attached.
Who can volunteer at NeighborGood?
Anyone who has a heart to humbly and lovingly serve our neighborhood can volunteer! Young people, old people, new people to the church, long time members, friends of friends, we need all of you! All we ask is that if you are under 14, you work alongside a parent or assigned adult. Volunteers must also sign a waiver of liability to be eligible to serve.
What are the requirements or responsibilities for each volunteer position?
- Car Care Clinic - Must have some working knowledge of how to change car engine oil. *car care services must preregister.
- Car Wash - Early and late shifts available to help wash cars.
- Farmer's Market Grocery Box Distribution - Helping set-up tables/organize food areas/assist neighbors in selecting foods, etc.
- Lunch - Beginning @ Noon, helping with setup/prep or serving.

When, where and how long is NeighborGood?
NeighborGood is on Saturday, May 5th from 8:00am to 1:00pm. Volunteer check-in begins at 7:30am in the Calvary Church Courtyard (Between the Chapel and Worship Center) with most projects scheduled to begin at 8:00am and go until Noon with a free lunch being served from Noon to 1:00pm in the Church Fellowship Hall for all volunteers and neighbors.
What should volunteers wear and bring to NeighborGood?
Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes and shoes that are okay to get dirty, painted on or wet. Depending on the project you sign up for, you may walk 1/4 to 1/2 mile to and from your work site. Volunteers should bring their own water, wear sunscreen (majority of projects are outdoors), sunglasses, hat and work gloves. All tools for projects will be provided for by your team leader or you will be asked in a separate email to bring a specific tool or piece of equipment (ie. paintbrush, car wash towel etc).
Can I serve on the same project with my Family or Friends?
Yes! Just make sure you sign them all up under the same project.
What if it rains the day of NeighborGood?
First of all, we will rejoice, because as always, Orange County needs rain! Second, if it rains over the weekend of May 5th, check the Church website (calvarylife.org) for updates regarding weather, schedule and project changes etc.
Will there be more NeighborGood events in the future?
We sure hope so! Check our website for future serve and outreach events at calvarylife.org/local
